Brownies

Brownies are the quintessential American treat. The simplest recipes have just chocolate, butter, sugar, flour, and eggs. Anything else is developing the theme, embellishing and enhancing. We're pretty sure we've found some of the best recipes around to satisfy even the most jaded brownie eater. Try them and see if you agree. Please remember that our minimum order is $24.

Better than Ever Brownies: Good enough is never good enough for us, so this brownie has chocolate chips as well as cocoa, butter, sugar, and the other essential ingredients. We pump up the flavor with a touch of espresso and almond extract. That's a baker's secret, and you got it for free, just for reading this.

State Fair Brownies: This classy, fudgy brownie has lots of deep chocolate flavor from two types of chocolate and dark brown sugar. It's a classic and you can even order with nuts.

Classic American Brownies: Somehow, every time we make a new brownie recipe, our families pronounce the results "the best brownies we've ever tasted." With this one, they really meant it. These are thick, chewy, and will make you reach for a glass of lemonade and imagine you are at a picnic on a summer's day, minus the ants.

York Peppermint Brownies: You heard us right. We sink York Peppermint Patties in our rich brownie batter and bake until celestial chimes are heard. Each bite has brownie and candy in it, with the yin of the chocolate playing off against the yang of the peppermint.

Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Brownies: Like a childhood fantasy come true. We've surrounded peanut butter cups with a rich, deep-chocolate brownie batter, and baked them to sweet, salty, peanutty perfection. They are over-the-top, beyond-the-Pale, and the guilt will make you blush. They cost a little more, but they're worth it.

Peanut Butter Brownies: Moist, fudgy brownies with dollops of peanut butter swirled in. There's that salty jolt from the peanut butter, immediately replaced with the sweet sophistication of deep chocolate. Let's taste that again and see if we got it right...

Peanut Butter Swirl Bars: Confused yet? These have a peanut butter dough into which we've swirled semi-sweet chocolate chips. Not technically a brownie, yet they like to hang out with the cool kids, and they are so popular at bake sales, so we include them here.

Blondies: Chewy butterscotch brown-sugar bars filled with coconut and walnuts, and if you like dates, we'll put those in, too. Or if you don't like them, we won't. And if you don't like coconut, we'll leave that out. But the walnuts are non-negotiable. We're not pushovers, you know.

Helen of Troy Brownies: These are the brownies that launched a thousand ships — fudge-like, full of toasted walnuts, a half-pound of unsweetened chocolate per batch, and so many eggs that the hens are mad at us. Unlike the rest of our brownies, these aren't cut in squares the size of your hand. They are too rich and dense for that. You'll thank us for cutting them in smaller pieces, but you'll keep coming back for more anyhow.
