Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting and a Frieze of Chopped, Toasted Pecans

Chocolate Stout Cake: Sounds crazy, yes, but this is the best, most chocolate-laden, fine-grained cake we've every had. And, yes, it has real Guinness Stout in it! You can't taste the stout but it does something special for this cake. We cover it with a frosting that is first cousin to fudge. A three-layer, 9" (not 8") cake. Not for the faint of heart. $40

Chocolate Sour Cream Cake: moist, light, rich. What could be bad? Have it your way — vanilla or chocolate-mocha buttercream. What's your pleasure?

Coconut Cake: coconut milk in the cake, garnished with shredded coconut outside. If you are dreaming of a tropical island, this is the cake for you.

Red Velvet Cake: A perennial favorite! A spectacular cake that tastes good, too. Ours has a lot more cocoa, and cocoa flavor, than most, and we put in less food color (tell us if you want it really red and we'll oblige). Enrobed in cream cheese frosting and chopped toasted pecans. (We can make it green for St. Patrick's Day.)

Carrot Cake: We've improved on the favorite. Ours has pineapple, coconut, and pecans in it as well as carrots. Let's pretend it counts as a serving of vegetables! We put cream cheese frosting on it.

Silver Cake: No actual silver, just a white cake that almost gleams. You choose the flavor — vanilla, orange, lemon, almond — and the frosting — vanilla or chocolate buttercream or white mountain. Wonderful for birthdays.

Yellow Cake: The classic favorite. You choose the flavor and the frosting.

Maraschino Cherry Cake: Can't get enough cherries in your Shirley Temples or Manhattans? Choose this one! The cake is pink, the icing is pink, your face will be pink with pleasure. Little girls in particular love it. So do big girls.

rum cake

Our Signature Butter-Rum Cake, Dinner Party Size

Butter Rum Cake: Our signature cake has more than four ounces of dark Caribbean rum in each batch. It is a moist, rich, buttery cake that you can serve with strawberries, real whipped cream, or even Greek yogurt for a wonderful change, or serve it plain with tea or coffee. This cake has been called "addictive." Don't say we didn't warn you. Everyone should taste this cake at least once in their lives.

Brown Sugar Pound Cake: Where have you been all my life? You have your moist, firm-yet-not-dense crumb, your deep, rich flavor from butter and brown sugar, and that intriguing bit of texture and wonderful warm flavor from toasted pecans. It's a naive domestic cake without any breeding, but you'll be amused by its presumption.

Sour Cream Coffee Cake: This traditional cake is layered with cinnamon and brown sugar streusel and studded with pecans. It will make your morning coffee break festive, make a tea party into a celebration, and remind you of your grandmother's best baking. But don't tell her that. It might hurt her feelings. Only available in Gala size.

Hot Cocoa Cake: Why do they call it that? It isn't hot and you can't float a marshmallow on it. Perhaps someone thought it tasted like hot cocoa. Whatever... Our cake has European high-fat cocoa, butter, and all the other ingredients that make life worth living.

Lemon Pound Cake: There is something classic about the combination of lemon and cake, isn't there? This is a dense, moist cake made with sour cream, finely ground almonds, and lemon rind, among other tasty things. We coat it with a lemon-sugar glaze.

Gala size Sour Cream Coffee Cake

Marble Pound Cake: No marbles in this cake. No marble, either. It's two batters, chocolate and almond, swirled together. Pretty, impressive, and oh-so-tasty.

Almond Pound Cake: Almond is the defining taste here. It's elegant, dense and moist and you can't stop with just one piece. If someone in the family doesn't finish it off in the middle of the night, try it with your morning coffee.

Vanilla Pound Cake: How much of a description do you want? We've searched the far reaches of the planet for the best recipe. It's a moist, flavorful pound cake, with that most classic-yet-exotic of flavors, vanilla. Did you know that vanilla beans come from a particular orchid? How exotic is that?

Chocolate Pound Cake: Dense, moist, chocolatey, delightful — but I repeat myself! It would be really decadent if you served it with whipped cream or ice cream, wouldn't it? And maybe a drizzle of chocolate syrup on the plate?

Angel Food Cake: Light as a feather but far more tasty. We don't ice it because it's perfect the way it is. Serve it with ice cream, whipped cream, strawberries, raspberries, whatever-berries! Simply heavenly. Only available in Heavenly size (10" cake, serves 8-10) $30

Chocolate Ganache Cupcakes

Chocolate Ganache Cupcakes: For those of our customers who know that there is no such thing as "too much chocolate," these are satisfaction incarnate. Each cupcake has, embedded in the moist, rich chocolate cake, a center of chocolate ganache (a confection of bittersweet chocolate, butter and sugar, not unlike the filling in a truffle candy). On top, we put our intensely fudgy frosting. $30/dozen

Grammy's Cheesecake: You thought you'd tasted cheesecake before, but you haven't, if you haven't had ours. A buttery graham-cracker crust with a touch of cinnamon cradles a filling that includes just cream cheese, butter, sugar, milk, eggs, and vanilla. No mystery ingredients, no gelatin, nothing but pure deliciousness on a fork. If you want this recipe, you have to marry into the family. My husband says it was worth it.
